5.4. Review of school curriculum of Nepal
Level wise goals: Pre-Primary, Basic and Secondary Early childhood/ pre-primary level goals: (3-5yrs.)
- Develop habit of maintaining;
- Develop habit of personal hygiene.
- Cultivate habits as per social norms and values.
- Develop positive behavior and altitude towards school.
- Develop social characteristics.
- Make ready for basic education.
- Provide opportunity to do physical, social, mental and moral development.
- Enhance creative powers.
- Develop life skills like problem solving, creative thought, health of individual, cooperative behaviours etc.
- Make curious towards traditional cultural diversity.
- Accepting own self and others.
- Teamwork and cooperating.
- Emotional experiences and expression.
Basic education goals
- Develop positive attitude towards the norms and values ok
democracy and nation. - Develop basic understanding of Nepalese history, society and
cultural diversity. - Develop basic knowledge of skill of language (mother language,
Nepali, English) for personal expression and communication. - Develop basic knowledge on science, mathematics, environment
health, IT and life skill. - Develop creative and expressive skill.
- Make children aware of imp of child rights and human rights.
- Develop positive outlook towards work and respect for labor.
- Develop a habit of sharing information and ideas about
indigenous occupation or employment. - Develop personal and social values like cooperation, discipline,
morality, helpfulness, honesty etc. - Develop civic awareness.

Objectives of Secondary education:
- •Develop positive attitude towards the norms and values of democracy and diverse culture of the nation
- •Prepare capable self-depended, skillful and trained human resources for the development of nation.
- •develop language ability like listening , speaking, reading and writing for lively participation in day- day life soul
- •Acquire appropriate skill require to solve day to day problem.
- •Develop technical and vocational skill and cultivate habit to respect labor.
- •Build capacity to complete nation and international levels.
- •Develop creative, free, critical and analytical thinking in order to cooperate with the national and international challenges.
- •Develop basic and occupational skill and the capacity to earn a livelihood to be a self-depended.
- •Understand the essence of human rights social justice and democracy and bring them in the practice accordingly.
5.2. Structure of curriculum of each level
According to 2063
- Basic Level
It includes the education from grade 1-8. This level is further classified into three phases:
Phase 1: Grade 1 to 3 primary
Phase 2: Grade 4 to 5
Phase 3 : Grade 6 to 8 basic level
Now
Preprimary: 1 year
Basic: 8 years (class: 1-8)
Secondary: 4 years (class: 9-12)
Grade 1 to 3
It follows the curriculum frame work developed in chaitra 2059 BS. English has become compulsory subject from academic session of 2060 BS. And revised text books and being implemented from 2063 BS. It has a provision of local curriculum of 100 full marks. The curriculum structures.

Grade 4 to 5
It is the second phase of basic level. It has two local subjects. First it is of 100 full marks and second is part of social studies, creative art, health and physical education, in which 20% is a local curriculum.
