This essay presents the categories of the college teachers as per their qualities. When the writer was planning to go to college, someone told him that he should not expect any care from the college teachers. But when he went to college he wanted to find out that all teachers are not same. They have different qualities (a,b). He found the university teachers having three classifications- positive teachers, neutral teachers and negative teachers.
He found the positive teachers are more agreeable, take interest in the subject and the students. They know the name of the students; allow questions, answers, and discussions in the class. They are available everywhere every time and encourage students for reading. Students feel comfortable in the presence of positive teachers and learn much from the positive teachers but such teachers are in minority. His French teacher Monsieur Poeriot was real positive teacher (c,d).
Neutral teachers are not so much agreeable and don’t take interest in the subject and the students. They know only few students’ name and allow less time to the students for questions and discussion. They are available but do not encourage students to see him again for help and the students don’t feel much comfortable. The writer’s Economics Professor Hilton is the best example of neutral teacher. Negative teachers are the least agreeable, and the students are afraid of the negative teachers. Such teachers are hostile in and out of the class; they never learn the students’ name. They do not allow the students for questions and discussions. They avoid attending the conference (e,f).
The university mission ought to educate neutral and negative teachers to improve their teaching methods and attitude to teaching profession. Negative teachers must be fired and appoint positive teachers.
